Régie de l'assurance maladie Québec (RAMQ) Aid Programs – Aides auditives

Have a hearing loss in addition to other impairments
Have other functional limitations that hamper integration into society, the school environment or the workplace
Must be insured under the Quebec Health Insurance Plan
Age 11 and under: have a hearing impairment that could compromise speech and language development
Age 12 to 18: have an average hearing loss of at least 25 decibels in one ear
Student Age 19 and over: have an average hearing loss of at least 25 decibels in one ear, and pursuing studies leading to a diploma, certificate or attestation recognized by the Ministère de l’Éducation et de l’Enseignement supérieur
Age 19 and over: have an average hearing loss of at least 35 decibels in the better ear

Hearing aids: digital (in-the-ear and behind-the-ear)
Assistive listening device, including: telephone amplifier, door or telephone monitor, adapted alarm clock, and teletypewriter

Covers purchase, repair and replacement costs related to hearing aids and assistive listening devices (under specified conditions)
Replacement of a device that is lost, stolen, destroyed or used negligently is not covered
Initial cost of batteries is covered, but replacement batteries, cleaning, testing and maintenance is not covered

Hearing aid: requires consultation from an ear, nose and throat specialist and obtain a medical certificate confirming the hearing impairment, as well as indications and contraindications of hearing device
Provision of an audiogram by a specialist and attestation of need for device
If needing a hearing aid, the applicant must consult an audiologist and provide required documents
If needing an assistive listening device, the applicant must consult an audiologist and potentially a speech therapist, and provide required documents
Age and situation of the applicant will determine the provision of other required documents
