- Ongoing physical disability that requires use of assistive device
What Devices are Covered?
- Wheelchairs (manual and power)
- Scooters
- Walkers
- Knee ankle foot orthosis (KAFO)
- Ankle foot orthosis (AFO)
- Home and bath aids
- Floor patient lifts
- Basic aids for daily living
What Services are Available?
- Program can help to buy, repair and maintain a wide variety of mobility or assistive equipment
- Repairs to existing devices
- Provision of replacement batteries
- Contact information or resources to assist in locating additional funding sources for disability management and return to work programs
Procedure for Getting Access
- If new devices are being requested, a occupational therapist or physiotherapist assessment is required
- Provision of documents, including: application package items, price quotes, assessments and prescriptions by appropriate healthcare professionals, and proof of income documentation
- A Ministry of Health response is required for mobility devices and seating devices
