Eligibility

- Older Adults (65 and over)*
- Hearing Limitation
- Permanent Manitoba resident
- Must be Canadian citizen or have immigration status (as outlined in the Health Services Insurance Act)
- Reside physically in Manitoba for six months in a year
- Profoundly deaf or speech impaired, as diagnosed by medical practitioner or audiologist
- Do not have the costs paid through other provincial or federal programs are eligible to receive benefits through the program
What Devices are Covered?
- Telecommunications equipment that allows telephone conversations to be conducted by keyboard and display terminal
What Services are Available?
- Program will pay 80% of the equipment cost to a maximum allowable rebate of $428 ($75 deductible on all claims)
Procedure for Getting Access
- Submission of the completed claim form from the supplier and receipt of purchase
- The initial claim must be accompanied by a diagnosis from speech pathologist, audiologist or otolaryngologist
