Eligibility
* age ranges tend to vary depending on program
- Adults (18 to 64)*
- The applicant must have barrier to education/training or employment created by their disability
- Resident of Alberta
- Age 16 years or older
- Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or refugee under Immigration and Refugee Protection Act
- Legally entitled to work and/or train in Canada
- Must be able to work and receiving at least minimum wage
- Volunteers and those in supported or sheltered work are ineligible
Note: there are differing eligibility criteria between clients and employers
What Devices are Covered?
- Digital recorder
- Electronic organizers
- Screen readers
- Braillers
- Electronic dictionaries/thesauruses
- Disability related software programs, including: JAWS, Zoom Text, Kurzweil, optical character recognition, and voice activated programs
- Other equipment and supports
What Services are Available?
- Rental and purchase of specialized software or technical devices
- Set-up, installation, and training on the use of specialized equipment and/or software
- Upgrades and maintenance of equipment
Procedure for Getting Access
- Applicants must complete the DRES Employability Assessment and have a developed Service Plan
- Specialized assessments may be required from Medical Specialists, Vocational Rehabilitation Experts and Evaluators, Occupational Therapists, Physical Therapists, Audiologists, Ophthalmologists, Speech and Language Therapists or Psychologists
