- A First nations person registered under Indian Act, OR an Inuk recognized by Inuit land claim organization, OR a child under 18 months whose parent is a registered First Nations person or a recognized Inuk (parent needs to apply for child’s registration)
What Devices are Covered?
- Audiology equipment including: hearing aids and their repair
- Orthotics and custom footwear
- Self-care aids, including: lifting and transferring aids, feeding, dressing, bathing and toiling aids
- Prosthetics (e.g. artificial leg)
- Medical equipment, including: mobility aids (e.g. walkers, wheelchairs and cushions)
- Low vision aids

What Services are Available?
- Delivery, maintenance, replacement (with guidelines) and repair of equipment
Procedure for Getting Access
- Prior approval is required except under special circumstances
- Covered items must be prescribed by health professional (e.g. physician or nurse practitioner) and provided by an approved supplier who is eligible to deliver the specific medical supplies or equipment
- Equipment suppliers primarily bill the program directly for reimbursement; in cases where they do not, clients pay the full cost and then apply for reimbursement
- Requests for reimbursements must be made within one year from the date of service or purchase
