Eligibility
- Programs where all ages are eligible
- Hearing Limitation
- Clients of Social Development Department and their dependents
- Individuals who have special health needs and qualify for assisted health care (Section 4.4 of the Family Income Security Act and Regulations)
- Clients must not have any other medical coverage to be eligible for full benefits
- Must have one of the following: valid white Health Services Card showing “SUPPLEMENTARY” in the BASIC HEALTH ELIGIBILITY section, or “HA” (Hearing Aid) in the ADDITIONAL HEALTH ELIGIBILITY section; or a valid yellow Health Services card with a “Y” under the OTH in the VALID ONLY FOR box, or an “X” under SUPP in the VALID ONLY FOR box

What Devices are Covered?
- Behind the Ear (BTE), In the Ear (ITE) and In the Canal (ITC) hearing aids
What Services are Available?
- Coverage for the purchase and maintenance of hearing aid
- Equipment repairs and ear molds
- Not cover hearing tests or evaluations and other services
Procedure for Getting Access
- Only hearing aids that meet the client’s basic hearing needs in the most cost effective manner will be approved
- Benefits must be obtained from a New Brunswick supplier unless the equipment or service is
not available to the client in this province
