Eligibility
- Programs where all ages are eligible
- Client must have needs that cannot be met by primary therapy team or another agency
- Must have had needs addressed by other services
- Must have clear communication goals, be interested in the service, and have appropriate level of arousal and alertness
What Devices are Covered?
- Augmentative and alternative communication tools and devices
- Environmental controls
What Services are Available?
- Assessment and consultation services to individuals experiencing verbal and/or written communication challenges
- Serves clients who are unable to meet their daily communication interaction needs through verbal speech, writing, and/or computer access
- Requires the active participation from the client's community therapy team
- No fee for service, but some costs may apply if assistive technology equipment is recommended
Procedure for Getting Access
- Any healthcare provider or family member can refer with support from a primary consulting speech-language pathologist or an occupational therapist
- Service provides may include: biomedical technologists, media technicians, occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, and speech-language pathology assistant
